As with so many complementary therapies, naturopathy has its roots in ancient times and although it has been practised for thousands of years, it is only now when people are becoming more conscious of their own role in their state of health that it is becoming more well-known.
Naturopathy stresses the importance of nurturing, stimulating and supporting the body’s own vital force for healing and balance, and outlines many ways in which this can be done. It uses holistic methods to heal the patient rather than address only the symptoms. As each individual is unique and has a unique set of circumstances and history, so too is the treatment offered.
A naturopath promotes the use of natural healing methods, eg dietary therapy, hydrotherapy, aromatherapy, holistic massage, homoeopathy, crystal healing, herbalism and shamanistic techniques, to energise and encourage the body’s inbuilt natural healing energy.
